Ice Pigging update

This past week, Environmental Utilities and Suez completed the ice pigging of Sweetwater Creek, and began work in Verandah Lakes, Magnolia Green, and Anthem Park. Next week ice pigging will continue in Anthem Park, Verandah Lakes, Magnolia Green and finish in Cypress Preserve. At this point in time, we anticipate ice pigging work will continue even while the City is in the shut down mode for the next two weeks. The City has entered into a contract with Suez to continue the ice pigging into the month of April tentatively through May 1st.

Staff worked on finalizing the proposed water lines to potentially be cleaned through more traditional pigging with a pipeline pigging company. The company will be providing a contract proposal to the City hopefully within the next week. As stated previously, the work of this company would complement and supplement the work of the current ice pigging which would accelerate some of the work. More information will be provided on this company’s process and areas of work if agreement is reached with the company.

Customer Service is continuing to survey customers in developments that have received ice pigging in order to gauge customer satisfaction and gain feedback on the success or any customer issues that may have occurred as a result. The survey is being distributed through Constant Contact and is sent to those customers for whom Customer Service has e-mail addresses. Surveys will be conducted of Sweetwater Creek customers in the coming week.

Information is being disseminated to customers in a bill insert and through the website to flush their hot water heater after the water line serving their residence has received the ice pigging. Detailed step-by-step instructions are provided in both the bill insert and on the website.

We would like to hear from those customers who are still seeing discolored water/particles, or experiencing low pressure after ice pigging is completed. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 407-957-7344, so we have record of the occurrence and can attend to accordingly.
