Old Canoe Creek Rd. update 2/3/20

Phase two of the repair project at Old Canoe Creek Road continues on February 3, with the arrival of the first sections of the new upgraded fully aluminum 9-foot diameter stormwater pipe to the site for rebuilding the area impacted by a pipe failure on December 18, 2019. Cathcart Construction Company continued with preparing the site to place the pipe sections.  City of St. Cloud engineers are onsite to monitor the progress of the construction and ensure water flow continues through the canal.

The City of St. Cloud Streets and Stormwater crews are also onsite implementing preventative maintenance and repairs to the adjacent areas while the road is closed to through traffic.

As a reminder, for the safety of the public, the section of the road under construction is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.  At this time, traffic onto Old Canoe Creek Road, between US-192 and Neptune is limited to local traffic only, but access to surrounding businesses continues to be open along US-192, Old Canoe Creek Road, and Neptune Road.

The City continues to monitor the roadway, and Osceola County Traffic continues to monitor traffic flow with the added temporary traffic light at Neptune and Sgt. Graham Drive.

Update 1/23/20
Phase two of the repair project at Old Canoe Creek Road began Wednesday, January 22 with crews mobilizing at the site to begin rebuilding the area impacted by a pipe failure on December 18, 2019. Cathcart Construction Company was awarded the repair contract and will be repairing the pipe, sidewalk and north and southbound lanes that were impacted.

During this phase of the restoration, the sections of the road will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic, which is necessary for safety reasons, as well as the scope of the construction area. At this time, traffic onto Old Canoe Creek Road, between US-192 and Neptune is limited to local traffic only, but access to surrounding business has continues to be open along US-192, Old Canoe Creek Road, and Neptune Road.

The pipe failure occurred between US 192 and Neptune Road and caused a sidewalk to collapse. When the City evaluated the scene, it was discovered that the two southbound lanes and adjacent turn lane had also been compromised. The section of the southbound and northbound lanes over the failed pipe remains closed due to the integrity of the roadway. The City continues to monitor the roadway.

Additionally, Osceola County Traffic continues to monitor traffic flow with the added temporary traffic light at Neptune and Sgt. Graham Drive.
